Leonardo

Leonardo

Leonardo is one of the fastest and most powerful supercomputers in the world, ranking among the top positions in the TOP500 list. It is part of the EuroHPC (European High-Performance Computing Joint Undertaking) network and is managed by the CINECA consortium.

This HPC (High-Performance Computer) is capable of performing over 250 million billion operations per second. As a pre-exascale generation supercomputer, Leonardo represents a key infrastructure for European research, contributing to technological and scientific progress across various fields.

CINECA, established in 1969 as an Interuniversity Consortium for Automatic Computing in North-Eastern Italy, is now the largest computing center in Italy and one of the most important in the world.

Comprising 103 public entities, CINECA operates under the supervision of the Ministry of University and Research. It supports the academic community through supercomputing and its applications, develops management systems for university administrations and the Ministry, and designs and implements IT systems for public administration, healthcare, and businesses.
